You will get back $3,132, assuming your earned $36,000 as an employee and had $7,000 in federal income taxes withheld, do not itemize, and are eligible for the standard deduction and exemption amount, and file single.

Don't forget about your state taxes.

Seriously, this is a wild guess. So much more would need to be known to give you an accurate number. And the number I gave is way off if you are an independent contractor.
7,000 sounds really low. You'll probably owe money.
I'm not sure but you could always try to check on a free online filing site such at taxact.

Also, since your AGI (adjusted gross income) is under 52,000, you qualify to use "free file" through one of quite a few tax prep websites according to the irs.gov website. I used H&R Block's free file site because theirs is a name I trust and recognized from the list. As you're filing out the form using your W2s, there's a little box in the upper right-hand corner that gives you the amount of your refund or payment owed.
