How many years can I go back to file income taxes?

I never filed taxes before

You can go back to when you first had reportable income. If you made enough in any of those years to be required to file, then you are required to go back and file for those years.

If you had a refund coming, you can only collect it on a return filed within 3 years of the original due date. Time runs out for refunds for the 2003 tax year on 4/15/07. Refunds for years earlier than that are already lost.
You can go back as far as you want. However, you have only three years from the due date of the return to request a refund.

Returns for 2003 will no longer be eligible for a refund after April 17, 2007.
Go to Gov.org. and get there 1-800 num.
