WHY should those who do not work and pay income taxes be allowed to vote?

It becomes quite obvious over time that they are only going to vote for the democrats and their givaway programs.

It's the American way.
Because they are adult citizens.

Full disclosure: I'm a conservative who votes Republican. The above answer is contrary to my political advantage. However, I am an American first.
Ever think about retired people? And veterans?

The government is elected by the people, not the privalaged.

Go talk to a few bums in a big city, and see if you think they have the mental capacity to work. Then, feel glad your are mentally sane, and are able to work, and afford your own place.

Many people on the streets are war veterans, and some of the things they may have had to see or do, make them lose it over time.

Be glad you weren't hauled off to Vietnam
common sense
The eligibility rules for voting are not contingent on taxable income. It would be completely foolish to even think a system needed to be in place like that!

Let ALL who are eligible speak. Otherwise, you're covering up a significant part of America.

And it IS NOT obvious that they'd vote Democratic or that ALL Democrats support so called 'give away' programs. It is poor logic of taking sides which give all a bad name.

Furthermore, pointing fingers gets us nowhere. Try being part of the solution, not the problem.
Because they are citizens and poll taxes are illegal. Thank God on both counts!
Because that's the law, as written into the constitution.
