I didn't work in 2006, do I have to file income taxes? Technically, no. If your income is below the standard deduct amount for your filing status + your personal exemption, then you don't need to file. If you had worked and earned less than that amount, you would want to file and get back the withholding. But that doesn't look to apply to you in the current year. You can always look at the 1040 instructions under Who Needs to File. They are available online at www.irs.gov yes, even though you did not have income you still have to file papers No. The only way you can file income taxes is if you receive a W2. And if you did not work, then you will not be receiving a W2. yes because your countrys prime minister and minister of finance is very stupid Yes, unfortunately. You may have gotten interest income, or unemployment income. Or even with no income, you still have to file. IRS regulations. Always file, regardless of whether you earned income, paid taxes or owe any. Just put zeros in your return form and put unemployed as your occupation. |
