Income made by someone in the military in a combat zone is tax free.So sorry to have to inform you but all of these have to pay income taxes under the same rules as the rest of us.

Wages paid to a service member who is in a combat zone are exempt from fedeal Income tax.
Govt employees MAY be exempt if they are in a hostile area.
