I, with my family, will be moving to the Ottawa region this summer. I have been told that cost of living in Outaouais is cheaper than Ottawa. However, income taxes are lower in Ontario; so you pay at the end of the year when Quebec income taxes come.
The best area is the closest part to the Quebec boarder. Quebec is very affordable, I lived in Montreal for six years, rents for a house back then was around four hundred dollars in the 1990's. I received both baby bonus, Canada's and Quebec's. Prices were considerably lower. I also have family in Ottawa and visit often, and I'm from Toronto. Stay as far from the city as possible and closer to other regions and find those town's web sites, some will post cost of living for those area's. Best of luck |
