If I live in NYC and work in NJ, do I pay income taxes to both states?

I am considering moving into NYC from NJ. And I'll still be working in NJ. I hear a lot of rumors about paying double income taxes and such. Can someone clear this up for me. I would like to know exactly which state or both gets my income taxes. Thanks in advance. -Joe

yes but you can use the amount withheld in NJ as a credit for the NYC return so yes you pay to both but you end up only paying the higher rate between the two (which is NYC ofcourse)
yes,sorry.
