If someone lived with u for a whole year without working and paying bills, can i file them on my income taxes? |
because i had a friend and her baby live with me for a year and i provided all the food and paid all the bill and i claimed her and her baby on my income taxes. And now she saying that she wants to file for her baby but i already filed for them both. Now do i or do i not have the right to file for them because like i said i provided for her and her baby for a year. If you are living in Australia, then you should be able to claim it under the sections about having dependants. Source(s): I do my own tax return In Short, Yes you can claim them as dependants on your tax return. The only downside to this is that when your friend files taxes, she must make sure not to claim head of household, or claim her baby as a dependant if you are claiming them both. I don't know all of the details, but I know I had my Mother in law living with us for just over a year, and when tax time came around, we were able to put her in as a dependant because we had paid nearly all of her bills. you should also be able to claim EIC ! you don't have the right unless under 21 college student (relative) or special needs relative or elderly relative that you care for or if your married to the person your filing with she is not soppose to file taxes because she did not work. so what is she filing for? u can claim them. taxation 401 |
