Does disability received for maternity leave have to be reported as income or is it already taxed income?

You have the option when claim disability if you wish it pre-taxed or you will pay at the end of the year. It is NOT tax free, my wife has been on disablitiy and it is added to my income. We pay tax on it after the fact as I have extra taken out for this.

This is tax free income. You don't claim it as income so you are not taxed.
this is usually 3rd party sick pay and should already be included in taxable wages on your W-2

Generally, you must report as income any amount you receive for personal injury or sickness through an accident or health plan that is paid for by your employer. If both you and your employer pay for the plan, only the amount you receive that is due to your employer's payments is reported as income.
Most of the time, disability pay for maternity leave is taxable income. You could ask your HR department.
