If republicans are doing a great job lowering taxes, why do I still pay 27% of my income to taxes?

federal taxes are like 6 times higher than my state taxes (I live in a democratic state). WHy haven't the republicans done anything to lower my taxes? I am single, and make about 50,000 a year.

Because you're single. They say that there's a marriage tax penalty, but that's not really true. The kids, the mortgage, that's all tax relief. I paid 8% under Bush, My husband and I make the same as you (each). We got the tax cut. We really did.

PS: You need to get an IRA if you don't have one.

Duka: Tax revenue went up because of the tax cuts.

Note: If I made over a million dollars I would be on the Riviera not typing at yahoo answers. That's just me I guess. ;)
Funny, mine went down. Could be you live in a democratic state. Sucks to be you.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, last year on gross income of over a million bucks I paid only 1500 bucks total taxes state and federal. Maybe you need a new Accountant.
And why are we $3 TRILLION in debt?
Because the vast majority of the tax cuts go to the rich, those making 100K or more. You are too poor to seriously benefit from the Republican tax cuts.

gives a good explanation of how the tax cuts are apportioned, you can clearly see how the wealthy got all of it, and the best part is yet to come for them.
When it comes to Federal taxation & the very fact that they manufactor the money to start out with what kind of a loose--loose game do you think this is anyway?
I agree, except...

Why are you not putting more into tax free municipal bond?

What about our retirement account as a tax advantaged savings plan, IRA, 401K, etc...

What about US Savings bonds?

BTW: Taxes suck, my state taxes are worse than my federal taxes.
You're saying that you make about $50K and you're paying about $13,500 / year in taxes, right?

Which of the following does this include:

Social Security,
Medicare,
Beer, Wine, Liquor,
Cigarettes,
Gasoline,
State Income Tax,
City Income Tax,
Federal Income Tax,
Property Tax,
Sales Tax,
Automobile Registration Fees,
Estate Tax,
Capital Gains Tax, and
any other taxes you pay?

As for the Republicans - go back and use the tax rates in effect in the year 2000 and calculate how much you'd be paying in taxes if those rates were still in effect.

As for the state you live in - you could elect politicians that favor lowering existing tax rates or move to a state like New Hampshire (which has no sales or income taxes and is committed to keeping taxes low).
