Is there a certain level of income where one doesnt have to file taxes?

I worked part time last year for a short period of time. I made under 3000.00. Do I have to file if i made under a certain amount?

Yes. If you make below a certain amount, you do not have to file taxes. That amount could be $400. But the amount is different for every filing status, and it does depend on the source of your income too.

Go straight to the source. Look up your situation on http://www.irs.gov
As long as it wasn't from self-employment you don't have to file, but if anything was withheld for federal income taxes, you can get it refunded by filing a return.

If it was from self-employment, and/or if you got a 1099-misc for it, then you have to file - the limit there would be $400.
yes....less than 800 then no
