How much would my gross monthy income be on 19,000 when you factor in taxes, etc.?

I've just been offered a job in London at 19,000 pounds a year. I need to know how much I can budget for housing, etc., but I can't figure out the exact amount of tax I would pay on that... I suppose I would be in the 'normal' tax bracket, as am not disabled, a student, etc. And I would be UK taxations btw...

Thanks!

Looking at your answers so far, mine might be a bit generous, but I got the accountant who sits by me to work it out - so here goes:

拢5,035 is not taxed (this has recently gone up)
拢2,150 is taxed at 10% (拢215)
拢11,815 is then taxed at 22% (拢2,599)

That means that 拢2,814 is deducted each year, leaving you with 拢 16,186 which is 拢1,349 per calendar month take home pay.
You want to know the net, 19,000 is the gross.
So the answer would be gross is 19,000 :)
Annually: 拢14,536.82
Monthly take home pay: 拢1,211.40

-Hope that helps.

my mam works for the inland revenue so im going by what she told me with my job.
First 4895 is tax free
then teh next 1500 is subject to 10% tax
then the rest would be at 21%. so erm i'll work that out
not to forget n.i.c which is at 6% gross
so erm...
6% =1140
17860-4895 =12965
12965-1500=11465 +150 tax so far
son basically you would be paying 3697 is tax and national insurance
so is it worth it?
with tax and national insurance they take about a quarter! so divide 19000 by 4 which is 4750. this leaves you 14250, which divided by 12 into your monthly pay is 1187.50.
This is only a rough estimate though so it might not be correct to the penny!
gross monthly income is income before taxes. 1600 a month is what it comes out to in gross income. taxes are what about 40-45 % percent over there? (just guessing), so at a 40% rate you would have approximately 940 pounds per month left
