22,672 is my 2006 income. Make 2.13 to cover federal and state taxes. Why must I pay in over 3200? |
I'm a waitress in SC but live in NC. I made 22672 as income. get paid 2.13 an hour which I thought covered the majority of my federal and state taxes. I am also a full time student who receives no state or federal assistance and I'm 20 years old with no children or anything. I was told I made to much money to be claimed by my mother or boyfriend, what's the deal? Should I go to naother tax agency or should I just try to pay the money? 22,000 is not a whole lot of money, but 2.13 may not cover all of the taxes, did you report your tips to the employer, and not pay taxes on them? the employer reports your tips to the IRS. and also, make sure that they are using the tuition deduction on the taxes. try using a tax prep software. its cheaper then a preparer. if you still owe, then pay. when the new tax forms come out in about a month is when you should try filing. they have a deduction for educational stuff like tuition. but i would definately go somewhere else If you would like me to take a look at it I would be willing to. I don't need any personally identifying information - so you don't have to worry about identity theft or anything along those lines. But I agree with you - something seems strange. If you are going to school, there are huge tax credits for paying tuition. Where you may be getting caught in a loop hole is by your state taxes (they usually hit you the hardest depending on the state you live in) you can contact me at shh_itsa_secret1@yahoo.com 5+ tax preperation experience for friends and family, in addition to business tax prep for a family member. |
