Can i still fill a law suit for something that happend 7 yrs old? A major fraud from an insurance company? tk |
i was paying $3000 premium for a fake car insurance policy for almost three yrs. I have kept all the evidences, but is 7 yrs old. can I still fill the law suit agaist this person? Local laws vary. You need to contact the Commissioner of Insurance in the state where you were paying the money. In Wisconsin, for example, the website is: http://oci.wi.gov/ No can do! Most states have a statute of limitations of 2-4 years for fraud. The only crime that does not have a limitation is murder. My question is why in the world did you wait so long? Of course you can. Make sure you have enough evidence to get that money back cause the lawyer will collect his either way. Find your states statute of limitations on the subject. You're probably out of luck. Most states have a limit of statues of 2 to 4 years. Talk with a lawyer (most will give you a free consultation) for your rights. Good luck! you may want to consult an attorney on that. i'm not sure if you've passed the statute of limitations...i'm not sure if starts from the first offense or last offense on those. but that is insurance fraud and a lot of states are cracking down on that...if anything..there may already be a class action suit against them. you may want to look that up & find out if you can get included. an attorney should be able to help you on that. if anything, try contacting your state's department of insurance. if you can't file a lawsuit..and the very least you can report them and then perhaps they can at least get some jail time...good luck! i've worked in insurance for over 5 years. |
