Im planning to buy a car with Insurance group 11 on it, anybody there can explain what does it mean...? see link below, which will explain it far better than me. insurance groups are usually advisory & may vary from broker to broker. Source(s): http://www.tiscali.co.uk/money/features/... expensive the higher the group the higher the cost get quotes before you by the car It means it will be more expensive to insure than a group with a lower number like 3. UK car insurance groups used to go from 1-7, 1 being the less risky for a motor insurer to cover, 7 being the highest. That was expanded about ten years ago from 1-20, 1 being eg. Robin Reliant to 20 being eg. Porsche Carrera. So yours is about average. 1 is the lowest and about 20 is the highest so you have a car that will be fairly expensive to insure. However other thing need to be factored into the equation, eg your age, car's age, your driving record etc etc. . In simple terms the higher the insurance group the more expensive the insurance either because statistically that car is worth more and thus a target for thieves or the higher the liklehood of you getting involved in an accident. When didn you ever hear of a fiat punto tearing past a porche doing 130 on the motorway ? |
