What could be done to help us understand the insurance industry? |
How could our government help us understand how to compare insurance coverages so that we could intelligently pick the options we needed at a reasonable price? Try http://www.fool.com/insurancecenter/basi... I hope it helps! I have used this site in the past, and it does provided basic information in a nice way. Source(s): http://www.fool.com/insurancecenter/basi... Why do you need the GOVERNMENT to do that? Anything anyone else gives you is always going to be an OPINION. You need to READ THE POLICIES. Read policies, ask for definitions of terms, and make charts comparing & contrasting coverages. That's the ONLY way to do it. Agent, 20+ years Each state has a Board of Insurance. On their websites, they have the basic facts and laws for each state to help you understand as much as possible. The government serves a regulator. You can find consumer info on your state's dept. of insurance web site. However, you can call up any agent and get comparisons and explanations about coverages and exclusions. Some people are just plain lazy. The government should not be helping people to understand their policies. The only way to understand is to ask your agent to go thru it and explain. Write down questions and call your agent up for a review. So many people feel that if they review their insurance that the premium will go up. I had someone recently that did not tell me about a potential discount. They walked out of here after the review knowing more about their insurance and it saved them over 600.00 per year. |
