If a felony is dismissed, can a person work in the health/life insurance industry? |
I was informed that a person with a felony can not work in the insurance industry. If so, what if the felony was dismissed? It's not clear what you mean by "dismissed". I assume you mean either (1) a felony charge was dismissed before trial and without a conviction or (2) a felony conviction was overturned on appeal. In either case, the person has no felony record and there are thus no restrictions on employment or anything else, such as voting rights or the right to own a weapon. It depends on the company you work for. Also, the state must review your past criminal history and approve the insurance license. Well, if they're up on felony charges, and the charges are dismissed, then they're not convicted of a felony! Once you have a conviction, if you appeal it, and win the appeal, it's dismissed, and you don't have the conviction any more. So, if you don't have a conviction, yes. If you have a conviction, then it hasn't been dismissed, and no. agent, 21+ years |
