Good insurance for a small liquor store/market in Los angeles county?

I am looking for a good commercial insurance company for my newly purchased small liquor store/market in southern California. It's a tiny 850 sqft store. I am looking for one that is reputable & lower price. Anybody know? What kind of coverage should I get? approximate cost? best most helpful answer gets full points!

Liquor Liability and General Liability are a must for a Liquor store. Liquor Liability is a necessary coverage to protect yourself. In most states, you Can be found liable for anyone who purchases alcohol from you and then drives and gets in an accident. This policy comes in to help pay for defense costs. General Liability is very simple, if someone slips and falls or somehow gets injured on your property, the General liability will come in to pay for their medical treatments and such.

As far a s a good company, there are a few and depending on your area, some would be better than others. my recommendation is to go to an independent agent and let them get you a few quotes. You should find a fair deal but keep in mind that you will be paying much more than the clothing store next door.

I hope this helps a bit! Source(s): 10 + years in insurance
yes, well, you're GOING to end up paying a minimum of $4000 for it, maybe more. You're GOING to need property coverage, general liability, and liquor liabiltiy. It's a HIGH RISK ACCOUNT. Yep, you sell booze and cigarettes, you're MUCH more likely to get robbed.

MOST companies aren't going to do this at all. You're going to need to contact a local, independent agent, and have them put this out for a "surplus market" quote. Very, very few standard markets will write a liquor store. Period. So it's not about "who's best". It's about "who's willing". And not many will be willing.

Oh, and IF You are selling cigs / lottery tickets, you likely will need a bond as well, for the state.

Hire armed security guards instead. It would be cheaper.
Contact Brown & Brown Insurance they are a nation wide corporation who can hook you up quickly. They have access to hundreds (if not thousands) of companies at a touch of a button and their risk managers are phenominal. Liquor Liability is a no brainer and renews every year easily as long as you maintain your liquor license. They also work with non-admitted carriers which are just as stable as admitted carriers for your state that may be better for your type of risk but require you to fill out a specialty application. Any way, call them - they are located everywhere and they have a website www.brown-n-brown.com for reference but last time I looked at it, it wasn't very developed. (they could have improved it more). They will get you the best coverage for your money and should give you several companies/options to choose from -- or ask for a different agent!! If there isn't one very close to you and you don't want to handle this over the phone, call another large reputable independent agency that deals with commercial accounts for your liability insurance.
