I was wondering how much a fetal ultrasound would cost, if you're lacking medical insurance? I'm a new mom. It really depends on your provider. On average it ranges between 250 and 500 dollars depending on wht they have to do and where you live. I negotiated with my provider for a lower rate and paid 300. Check and see if you qualify for medicare which will cover everything. If you do not there are some companies there that will negotiate cheaper rates for you. You would pay a monthly fee. Be careful out there though, ask questions and know what you are paying for and what you are getting. They may tell you one thing but read between the lines. Also speak to your hospitals financial services office, sometimes they have a sliding fee scale (for all your maternity costs) or may be able to direct you as to where you can get help. Good Luck! If you don't have insurance you should apply for medicaid.Having a baby is expensive.Your bill can easily reach the 30,000.00 dollar mark. It's not retroactive,so apply before you run up a bill. I was reading my pregnancy magazine and I came across this add for pregnant mothers who lack insurance or have no insurance at all. The number is 1-866-226-8815 or you can visit there website www.mcardbenefits.com You REALLY need to get some sort of coverage so you can have access to adequate prenatal care. I've read dozens of studies about how the lack of adequate prenatal care negatively affects the pregnancy, the mother's health, and the health of the baby for years and years after birth. Prenatal care is essential to having a healthy baby. I live abroad but will come home to deliver my baby. No doctor I called back home would take me unless I could prove that I'd been having prenatal care. Now to partially answer your question. I've read that in the US there is a new industry where shops in malls will offer an ultrasound so that mothers can have "pictures" and movies of their babies. They even make scrapbook pages. This is not a substitute for prenatal care, but it is probably a lot less expensive than a doctor or clinic would charge for an ultrasound. Modified 1 year ago Apply for Medicaid first. See if you qualify. You can apply through your state's Department of Family Services. If you don't qualify and still are required to pay out of pocket, an ultrasound will cost anywhere from $150 to $350 depending on location and usual and customary fees in your area. Many physicians offer a pregnancy contract which includes all fees and will allow you to make a payment program with them. This does, of course, not include any hospital fees. Good luck and congratulations! a medical ultrasound without insurance is usually between $500 and $800. Depending on the equipment used and whether it is done in a doctor's office, imaging center or ER. AT the imaging center I go to they charge about $550 and when I had the one at the ER it was a little over $700. Definitely try to get some insurance. Alot of times if you have a major life change your job will allow you to enroll in your insurance. Medicaid is limited in who they will cover, but if you qualify, go for it. |
