A senior citizen friend may move to texas but she is afraid she would not get a similar program she has in california and medical which she paid into. Would she be available for a program she did not pay into in texas?
Once she moves out of state, she is required to enroll in her new state's Medicaid (same as MediCal) program. She should do this as soon as possible before she is required to pay back the state for benefits recieved as a resident in another state! By the way, she paid into SSI which is the Social Security Income which is in no way tied to California only.

15 years in medicine, 10 as an insurance processor. I think she can. She just needs to contact her insurance provider and ask about her options for moving. A lot of times they just do a transfer for her.
