Does Mexico have quality medical care insurance at affordable rates? |
I heard that american retirees are enjoying some pretty good medical care in Mexico for about $500 per year. Is this true? It seems that the doctors in america are all foreign educated anyway so maybe the doctors there in mexico are about as good as most here in america now. ( except the Mayo clinic and other very expensive private care facilities that i could never get anyway) What areas of Mexico are best for USA retirees? You can sign up for IMSS, which is the Mexican National Health Insurance program after you move here and establish a residence. I am 65, American, retired in Mexico. The insurance rates are based on age, so people over 60 pay the highest rate. This year my premium for one year was equal to $270.00. The first year, your use is limited ( can't use for pre-existing conditions.) After that it, covers everything with no deductibles. Private pay medical care is a fraction of what it is in the states. Some American retirees like to live in touristy areas with thousands of other gringos. These areas are expensive. If you prefer an area with lower costs and fewer gringos, there are many good places. A small town near a large city is a nice idea..lower costs, but advantages of big city nearby. Do web search for "retiring in Mexico." There is lots of info available. move to certain parts of america and it is mexico...like where i live. yes it is true |
