What goverment/nhs web site tells me about free medical/travel insurance? go to www.dh.gov.uk/travellers I think you can download the application form for E111 health card which entitles you to free health care in any EU country. Once you apply you should get the card within 7 days. If you book your holiday/trip with your credit card you should automatically be covered. For medical insurance you will get fair cover using a E111. Travel insurance is NOT provided by the Government! Nationwide do a reasonable policy and it is cheaper than most travel agents policies The EHIC will ONLY cover you for emergencies, and if the country you try to use it does not think what you have presented with at a clinic or hospital is not an emergency, they will be very harsh with you, expecting full payment before leaving any clinic etc. It is not a replacement for health insurance, this does not cost a great deal and I have never understood why people want to skimp or avoid purchasing it? there isnt one. try on line for cheap one ./////////////////// |
