Why do health insurance companies not cover pre-existing medical conditions? |
Why do health insurance companies not cover pre-existing medical conditions? The goal of health insurance companies is to make as much money as possible while paying as little as possible out in policy claims. If they accept people with pre-existing conditions, they are practically guaranteeing they will have to spend a good deal of money on this persons claims. This is bad business in their eyes, so they tend to extend coverage to the people who are least likely to need it in the future. It is unfortunate and highly unjust, but that is how they get rich. Pre existing conditions apply ONLY to "Individual Insurance Policies". If you work for a large corporation which extends insurance to its employees you are not going to be turned down for a Pre-Existing condition. It is illegal. Medical Claims Examiner |
