Can a Canadian get emergency medical attention in Arizona if their travel insurance has expired? |
Can a Canadian get emergency medical attention in Arizona if their travel insurance has expired? Emergency medical attention shouldn't be a problem. I had to go to the ER when I was pregnant with my son, (in New York). When I returned home, I sent the invoice to OHIP (provincial), and they paid it for me. Because it was emergency treatment, I was covered. Hope this helps. in the usa it's illegal for any hospital anywhere to refuse emergency care under any circumstances. this is the law. if you have an emergency, you will be cared for. I'm in Arizona.. an Emergency Room is not suppose to reject someone with an emergency medical issue. Anyone by law must receive EMERGENCY medical attention. They can't just let somebody die because they're canadian. All hospitals in the US must provide emergency attention when it is necessary, regardless of the circumstances, which is also a key point in the argument against illegal immigration. Hospitals cannot refuse to treat anyone with a life threatening illness or injury. Now, they only have to stablise you, and get you to a point where you will not die in the near future. If you have not seen the movie John Q, this covers the subject very well. They did have to care for Denzel's boy, but were not required to perform the transplant. Basically, if you are rock climbing, and you fall, and your arm is severely broken. They have to set it, and stop any injuries that will likely be fatal. All the physical therepy, and any other surgeries to allow the arm to work better are not required. |
