Is it true Insurance companies can look into sum of ur medical records?


My doctor told me that its better to have STI AND HIV tests done in a GUM clinic rather than at the doctors because insurance companies can see what youve had tested?? Is this true? Ive never heard this before.

yes they can.and its not just life insurance.i had a payment protection insurance.witch said it cover me for when i fall ill.and can not pay my credit card bills.But when i was ill.they look at the smallest detail.of my medical record.and refuse to pay because.i did not tell then that i was at the hospital 20 years ago.that i forgot about.that's what insurance companies are like take your money for years.and when its time to pay out they will find fault.with your claim so watch out.when you are filling out your insurance froms.one small thing wrong and they will not pay you so be careful.what you put on not put on the from.

Afraid its true. Insurance companies can view your records and depending on what they see can use info as a get out clause. Its to do with the fact that you are supposed to declare any existing conditions or lifestyles when applying for insurance xx
Yes if you have life insurance of any kind they will ask you to sign a release form giving them permission to approach your GP to check your medical history. This only happens when making a claim but its perfectly legal
Yes it is true, INsurance companies can request an MBI Medical Bureau INvestigation. They are able to see all medical care you have had. It is a tool they use to determine risk factors for underwriting purposes. It is comparable to a credit check a loan company would run on you. hope that helps.

Hi fraid to say but its true.You always think your medical notes ate private and confidential but no not to insurance companies.Wrong yes i know,as you dont want anybody knowing what treatment you have had or going through.
