What risk would I take to not bother with travel medical insurance while abroad? One in a hundred claim their travel medical insurance while abroad most never have an issue but some do and can go wrong read this story first then you decide http://www.holiday-travel.tohelpyou.info... If you have an accident it could cost thousands in medical bills and if serious an air ambulance can cost up to 拢40,000 Well depending on the country the cost can be very high if you are sick... Medications can be expensive..some places will refuse to treat you with out insurance .. good luck With everything you take a 50/50 chance. However, I worked at an insurance agency in the call center and one of the members I worked with study abroad in Thailand and two days after arriving was hospitalized and he was found to have sprial meningitis. The insurance agency bi-laws gave him hell at first but was able to cover most of the cost. If not for him having insurance for travel he would have been stuck with a bill somewhere in the range of 150,000 dollars. So this is my word of caution to you can you afford to be with out or can you afford to be with- even if nothing happens. I wish you the best in your travels and hope this info helps you a bit. Fever, coughing, sneezing & food poisoning. It really depends where you are going. Road accidents are very common in some areas, as are things like food poisoning, malaria, other infectious diseases etc. So depending on where you are travelling you run the risk of either having a huge medical bill if any such thing happen to you, or having to make do with inadequate care. Also it will be a lot more difficult for you to get home if you need to if you have been injured or are very ill as medical insurance will usually cover that. If you already have health insurance you may find that it will cover costs of emergency treatment, depending on the company and country. It would make a great deal of sense to check there first. I never carried travel medical insurance because I found that mine would cover emergency care. If you have no insurance at all it is a wise investment. |
