Can Health Insurance compaines look up ER visits? Need Medical attention asap?

I don't have insurance and would like to purchase but don't want to mention an ER visit for my gall bladder. I was told to schedule to have it removed but i haven't since I don't have the money or insurance. Can I buy insurance now never mentioning the the ER visit and then go back to a different ER when coverage comes into effect for surgery?

Please help. Also what are the chances of them doing an emergency removal with no insurance? I would hate for them to charge me $1,000's again to run test when I know what my problem is.

If you are purchasing individual insurance, then yes, they can and WILL look for any records on you in your area. If they find you have not disclosed something in order to get the insurance, that is considered fraud and is punishable by law. They can give you insurance anyway but will probably consider your gallbladder a "pre-existing condition" and will not cover anything regarding it for as long as a yr.

If you are getting insurance through a company that you or your spouse works for and they pay a portion of the monthly premium, then an involved background medical check won't be done and you'll be covered. Source(s): Did insurance claims for a medical office for yrs
go to a county hospital, they have to treat you regardless of your ability to pay because they are state supported. If you have a diagnosis on record anywhere of gall bladder disease, no insurance is going to pay for it on the basis of a pre-existing condition.

make an annonymous call to the insurance company. talk to the person in charge of the department that you need the answer from, then simply ask that question.

that is it. all insurance companies are not the same so get the answer straight from the horses mouth.
I don't know if they can look up ER visit or not, but I do know that when you fill out the paperwork, they will asked about all sorts of conditions. There will be a question on there about your gallbladder. Most likely the insurance company will also want to review your medical record.
Recently filled out paperwork for insurance, and I also have had a gallbladder removed, so I'm sure it may be listed in your medical record.
