Newborns and medical insurance? |
I'm 32 weeks pregnant and right now I am covered by my dad's insurance as a dependent. My fiancee and I decided to postpone our wedding/marriage once we found out I was pregnant because he didn't have medical insurance at the time. Clearly our child is not a dependent of my father's, so we want the baby to go on my fiancee's insurance. Does anyone know for how long my insurance will cover our baby (I know it covers the immediate hospital care, but I haven't a clue about thereafter)? What do we need to do to get the baby on my fiancee's insurance? How much time do we have to get the baby on there? Will there be any complications because we won't be married until 6 weeks after the baby is born? your fiance needs to let his insurance know. Find a pediatrition now. After the birth of your baby, they will ask you if you have one, if not, they'll refer to one.. Most hospitals have financial aid if you don't have insurance, so ask for it if you need it. The baby will be on your fiance's insurance as soon as he's born and his first checkup will be with the pediatrician you chose. All the insurance company will need is proof of birth letter, which will be given in the hospital.. You won't have the child's birth certificate for up to 17 weeks... Anyways, every State and hospitals are different, i would ask your fiance to check the insurance now, so you don't have any problems later.. Good Luck!!! I had a similar problem, so I called the day my son was born so that he could be ready for his one week appointment your dads insurance should cover the baby for 30 days after its born so for the babies first well check up..The baby can get on tyour fiances medical insuranceas soon as your fiance fills out the papers in should go into affect the following month..have your fiance talk to his human resource department they will help him. He needs to talk to his work and they can add the baby on to his insurance hell have to get a family plan as far as how long that takes i dont know im not sure if they will need the baby social securaty number or not i would talk to them about it know it doesnt matter if your married or not he can still have insurance for the baby after you have the baby your fathers insurance wont cover any thing else i dont know where you live but in illinoise they have the medicale card that you can get for your baby and your self it free or goes by your income you can find out through your publice aid office.good luck go to dss, they will cover baby until 21,my kids have that. |
