What is the difference between a loan officer and a mortgage broker?

What is the difference between a loan officer and a mortgage broker?

A loan officer needs no license, they are working as sales people for the mortgage broker. A mortgage broker is a person licensed by the state.
Actually both a loan officer and broker need to have a license. A broker has been a loan officer for a set number of years then took the test to get his brokers license. A broker is in charge of all the loan officers in his company, and assists them with their loans if needed.
