Is online banking safe? |
What do the banks do to keep your information private Hi! I have a bank account and do all my banking online with Ohio Savings bank. Many banks have started taking more action to prevent online banking insecurities. My bank, as well as a few others are now requiring more then just password and I.D. They are now randomly asking questions (that you select) Example: What is your mother's maiden name? What is your pet's name etc... They are also assigning your user name with a picture. You must confirm that the picture that it shows is the right one, and an intruder didn't make a "copy" site to try and get your personal information. Hope this helps! Yes, this is quite safe, as long as it is a reputable bank, and the "lock" security symbol shows up on your toolbar when you're logged in. I've used online banking for over ten years, never had a problem. lign="right" > Sign in to vote! i go thru wells fargo and never had a problem. they take additional measures, i am sure. i really can't explain the computer security aspect -- with firewalls and such. you should have a good, strong password. preferably with numbers, letters and symbols in it. they have security questions. they dont keep you logged in if your window closes, they time out your log in if you remain idle after an amount of time. that sort of thing. lign="right" > Sign in to vote! |
