I have been a victim of ID thieft i never had online banking doesn't bank have to tell me or show me the date

Bank of america said they did not have the date on file to tell me when i signed up for online banking and phone transfers the manager first said that i had to come in physically to do it then she stated anyone could do it over the internet, I did not have access to computer how can i get my money back the fraud dept of BOA agreed that yes there was fraud but i should have been aware of statements, hard to do when someone has changed your addresss 7 times and my local bank did not have correct address on file, they admit the checks are altered but i was to be held accoutable don't they have to be by at least telling me when i approved online banking and phone money transfering.

I believe B of A is being cautious with you, since they are aware that your account has fraudulent activity on it. It's a time-taking task, but now you have to prove to them, you are who you say you are.

Have you considered to file a police report? You may want to also have a signed written statement/letter and have that notarized to make it a legal/legit document. Is there a way to obtain the statements which show the fraudulent activity? Once you have gathered all this information, make copies for your own records since the original documents may have to be given to the Fraud/Investigation Dept at B of A.

If you can obtain a contact name and phone number of a rep, keep it so you won't have to repeat your issue to the next person. If you (phone) contact B of A, ask to be transferred to the Fraud/Investigation Dept immediately. Bypass the customer service rep. Save the headaches and frustrations. If you have to escalate the issue to someone above the manager, you should do so. Do whatever it takes to get someone to help you. Good luck!
In cases of ID theft they are being eminently reasonable to require an in-person visit

otherwise, they don't know you from the fake (that's kind of the definition of Identity Theft after all, isn't it?)
