If I didn't pay taxes to protest the war I would be thrown in jail. But if we all did it ?

If I withold paying taxes in protest of the war, I would certainly be prosecuted by the IRS. But if this becomes a massive movement where MILLIONS OF PEOPLE do not pay in protest, then the gov. will have little recourse, except maybe to recognize that we are aginst the war. Our votes do not count, maybe our $ will! How do we get this idea going?

The IRS is merely a collection agent for the Federal Reserve
and your wage withholding dollars go to pay the interest on the money it puts into our economy. Business taxes pay for military spending. If we were to do what you propose it would cause the most recent Presidential directive to be enacted and under the patriot act II the entire country would be under federal quarantine. A 50 state prison if you will. We have more shale oil in Colorado that the entire middle east has. This oil war must end and the current regime in power stripped of its Nazi like directives. Our enlisted personnel deserve to be fighting in a real war with a real objective or else home where they belong. Every soldier that has died in Iraq has done so in vain as they were following orders that should never have been given. It is a total outrage that we have sent our men and women there under false pretense.
All we can do is pray for their families, and for the ones still in harms way.

non路sen路si路cal (nn-sns-kl)
adj.
1. Lacking intelligible meaning: a nonsensical jumble of words.
2. Foolish; absurd: nonsensical ideas.

His question doesn't accurately fit such a description. Yahoo answers does however contain a virtual plethora of ones that do.
I want to not pay taxes to protest the sheer number of wasteful socials services we have. Are you with me?
Your name say's it all..................
You're the lone ranger on this one.
The IRS has altogether too much power if you ask me. They are nobody's with a big head.

The reason we even have a free country and are not still part of England is because we chose to not pay taxes without agreeing to pay them.

"Taxation without representation." I can't tell you when the last time I voted to pay taxes. I certainly can't see too many people saying "Yeah, go ahead, take 20% of my hard earned money to pay for programs I don't agree with, and put money in the pockets of other people who decide what is best for me without asking my opinion."

If everyone did not pay their taxes, then there would be no firemen, policemen, no medical health benefits for the kids and elderly, there would be no municipal offices open because no one would be paid, subsidies for oil and other products would cease, so we'd be paying more for our stuff. Farmers would have to actually till their soil, grow their grains, corn, beans, etc... instead of being paid by the government to NOT farm... just to keep capitalism up and running.

You are so correct that our vote does not count. How can we determine if each vote that was placed was actually taken into account? Those who are doing all the law making are doing it without our input. for the lobbiests.... good old democracy, huh?

We should have a choice to where our money goes...

I think I'd like it to go to the Mall, and get me a nice new pair of jeans.
Einstein's first public equation in Germany was not on the subject of physics. Very politically involved, Einstein opposed conscription by the then Weimar Republic. He calculated the amount of prison space, the cost of imprisonment and processing of cases, and showed how many young German's resisting the draft would make it economically impossible for the law to be enforced.

The answer is yes, I believe, to your question. Your money counts more to the government than your votes.

The problem is the universal lack of political courage that Americans display.

For some reason, they have forgotten that THEY are the government. Maybe the responsibility was too much, and thinking about that takes too much time away from the football and iPods.
You can qualify as the poster child for nonsensical comments with this one. The name you use here is totally telling of your ability to think reasonablly.
