Do the Americans pay lower tax compared to the citizens in other industrialized nations?

Is this because in America people are not provided with free health care so that they keep the tax money that they would be paying to deal with their health care issues themselves?

Relative to other industrial countries especially Europe, we have lower taxes. The effective tax rate in Germany is more than half of all salaries. They have socialized medicine, I had a chance to stay in one of their hospitals for two weeks. First of all it was very old, paint peeling off the walls, cement floors, they used glass IV bottles instead of plastic. Everything including metal syringes and most surgical instruments were cleaned and reused. The staff was great as far as things go but the conditions looked like something out of a 1950s movie. A big problem they like other countries have with this plan is no bed space. It seems of you need a surgery or an organ transplant you are more likely to die waiting for a bed than waiting for an organ or procedure.I agree health care is expensive, I have health insurance and it still costs me a lot. However, I just don't think given examples of Government public housing, Government sponsored programs like Social Security and Medicare that we have any business socializing our medical system. So yes our taxes are a little lower on the federal level compared to most countries of Europe, however, once you count state, local, property, and sales taxes it is probably right in line with Europe.
I don't know.
We do pay a lot of taxes for tanks and fighter planes.
First off, there is no such thing as "free" healthcare. Nothing is "free"; you pay for it with taxes. Furthermore, you expect quality goods and services in exchange for your hard earned money. If you don't like a product that a company is selling, you take your business elsewhere. If enough people do that, the company either cleans up its act or goes out of business. It's the brilliance of Capitalism. We, the consumer, will always win when there is competition.

In a Socialist Country, with nationalized healthcare, you'll find that most people are dissatisfied with the quality of the healthcare. And they have nothing to say about the back-breaking levels of taxation. There is no competition; you get what the government tells you, and that's the end of it.

Poor people in the USA already have their healthcare taken care of. Most people in the USA without healthcare CHOOSE to go without it.

Nationalized healthcare may sound wonderful to the uninformed and naive, but for productive people, it really sucks.
So called FREE health care is not worth paying that level of tax.
