Can someone tell me what the BEST pet plan insurance is.? |
I have an English Bulldog and I would like to know if anyone (by personal experience) has had a pet insurance that they used. Please let me know the name of the Co. and if they were able to rt. your money for the procedure. I am looking for a plan around $20-25 monthly. Please don't wast your money on the insurance until you find out if your vet accepts insurance. At the vet. I was working for we didn't , and most of the vets around didn't either. Talk to the vet you use and ask him/her what type they accept, if any. Pets can have insurance? Wow.. I had no idea... I can tell you who I would not recommend, and that is Banfield Hospitals for animals. They have prices in your range but they try to sell you all kinds of stuff animals don't need, they give a lot of shots that pets don't need and they prescribe medicines that you still have to pay for as well as some supplies and they are way overpriced. Also, I had really bad experiences with them with with my dog. It has been a nightmare. If you don't like the Vet because of how your dog wasn't properly treated, you are stuck in the contract and have to pay more even to transfer to another Banfield. You will end up paying more to pay the contract out than Vet services are worth. If you want to get out of the contract, you have their severely over-inflated prices due immediately for services "included" in that first meeting, at their retail price. Like retail prices for shots that would cost less than 30 dollars from a supply place totalling in the hundred, dietary consultation-don't know what they charge for that, but it means when the Vet sees your pet he might comment that they "look good" or they will tout their products for a special diet. etc. etc. etc. NIGHTMARE! You might not realize how much of a nightmare until you get locked in and your pets are mis-treated. Some clinics have a good Vet, but it seems to me that good ones don't tend to stay a long time with Banfield. One Vet of theirs in my area liked to do lots of unnecessary surgeries. The unfortunate thing is even when your animals are sick, you may not actually get to see the Vet and talk to him or her directly about it. Or if your pet is in need of care for an infection that is painful, they may sit all day in a cage waiting. Since you will be locked into a contract, do you really want to take the risk of getting Dr. Cuts-a-lot or Dr. Flunkie vs. the occasional gem of a Vet? I am watching this question for answers because I am curious what plans are out there, besides Banfield, that are actually good. Thanks for the topic. The only pet insurance company that I know of is VPI, vet pet insurance. their phone number is 888-889-4vpi and website is http://www.petinsurance.com/ Not sure if this is the best or not but it's recommended by the ASPCA for whatever that's worth. www.aspcapetinsurance.com/stor... or 1866-909-2281 BTW it doesn't metter if the vet takes it or not, you pay up front then the ins company send you a check so that's cool i guess. please try this <a href="http://www.dpbolvw.net/click-1748196-103... target="_top">help</a> <img src="http://www.awltovhc.com/image-1748196-10... width="1" height="1" border="0"/> I wouldn't use VPI. Heard horrible things. Maybe check out aspca or pet assure. |
