Are allergic tests covered under pet insurance?

Are allergic tests covered under pet insurance?

I know that VPI does not cover these tests even with the premium policy. If there is a pre-existing allergy or condition then definitely no.
Unfortunately I have been there and it is very expensive.
I would find out if you are near to a animal dermatologist. They usually are cheaper in the long haul and will rule out a lot of unnecessary tests that regular vets will run.
I found that the regular vet often orders tests to eliminate possible allergies rather than find out what they are allergic to.
One newer medication is Atopica and seems to be far more effective with less side effects than some of the traditional treatments such as corticosteroids.
Most policies only cover routine vet practices, shots, exams, spaying and neutering, nail clipping, etc. You need to review your policy carefully to see if your allergy tests are covered.
