Does your home owners insurance company insure your property with an American bulldog breed? |
Does your home owners insurance company insure your property with an American bulldog breed? American Bulldog is not on the DO NOT INSURE list with most insurance companies...I actually change the breed of my dog from Staffordshire Bull Terrior to American Bulldog when I moved to another town... you shouldn't have a problem They should. each company is different but as a general rule bulldogs aren't considered liabilities. I have a pit-lab mix, my boss told me that when I get homeowners insurance (I recently moved to TN from CA) I should just say its a lab mix because they will either A) not insure me or B) my rates will be way higher. Not sure about a bulldog though... It depends on the ins. co. but many, many will not and it is with many breeds of dogs not just bulldogs. I found it makes a big difference if you have a liability policy on your dogs. A lot of times they will say yes if you do. I only pay $128 dollars a year for a $500,000 dollar policy and am uping the coverage right away. It is cheap and everyone should have it. If someone was to get bit you would be glad you had it. I have never had it happen but you never know.I have dogs, cats, horses and they are all included. We have North Carolina Farm Bureau and they didn't even ask if we have a dog. We have an intact male German Shepherd. Just shop around. I think insurers lose more money because of plumbing failure causing floods than dogs. They should hand out reinforced washing maching water hoses and leave folks alone with their digs imho. No insurance carriers that I know off will decline to insure a risk because of an American Bulldog. This is not considered to be an agressive breed by the insurance companies. Its the American Staffordshire Terrier (aka Pit Bull) that the insurance companies have a hard time with along with other ones. I have been an insurance agent for 20+ years. |
