Why should you have to pay property taxes more than once?

Instead some liberal decided that they can charge us every year for eternity. I guess it funds the government cheese.

Are you sure that was a liberal? Some states didn't have property tax until the last 25 years or so. We have a republican governor and they are messing with our appraisals every year. I am paying 1/3 more this year than last. This is because they want to build and/or repair a large number of schools within the state. This is being contested by some of the people living in this state and they are making reevaluations. In fact, a lot of funky stuff has happened in my state in the last couple of years that isn't very popular. I think things will change with the next election.
Taxes fund the Police, Fire, and Education departments. Please propose a better alternative if possible. Unless people are willing to disband these local services, does anyone suggest and all free, volunteer Police force and Fire Department?
well sport, pretty soon your city wouldn't be able to afford roads, schools, and stuff like that...then you'd own property that wasn't worth squat
Property taxes only prove that you really don't own the property.
So that the wealthy don't buy up the best real estate and then keep it care free in their families for eternity. It's only fair to pay at least a little bit for the land you live on. The nicer the spot of ground you have, the more you will pay for the luxury of owning it.
lol, more lies and falsehoods: "Instead some liberal decided"
No cheese but police, fire, libraries, streets, parks and schools are paid for by the property taxes. If you don't like property taxes, and many people don't, then suggest an alternate source of funding for these services.
