Difference in home owners insurance, renters insurance & vacancy insurance? |
Differences in coverage & premiums in Texas...... Homeowners insurance is a package deal, covering building, stuff inside of it, and liability, IF the owner of the house is the person living in it. It's moderately cost effective, but Texas rates are high, in general. Renters insurance is a package deal, intended for tenants, covering the tenant's stuff, and liability for the tenant. It's cheap, usually under $200 a year. "Vacancy" insurance is usually a fire policy that covers a vacant house. It's extremely expensive, and can be written on a short term basis. It is the most limited in coverage, but hey, most insurance companies won't cover vacant houses at ALL. Contents and liability are optional on this policy, it's a cafeteria type policy, NOT a package deal. Source(s): agent, 20+ years MBRCATZ has it right on the money ! |
