Is there a renters insurance out there that would cover a pitbulls? Pennsylvania and Michigan prohibit an insurance company from discriminating by breed. Check the two links below for tips on finding homeowners insurance. State Farm varies. I know for a fact that you are required to answer a question on whether or not you own a dog. I have a mixed breed pit bull and my agent is well aware that I have the dog because he has seen it and I'm insured. But I've heard other people say that State Farm would not cover them. Son is agent No. Pitt Bulls are on every prohibited dog list I've ever seen. They're also on MY Farmers list, as a prohibited breed. I'd guess that the guy who's son sells Farmer's, hasn't seen the list. Agent, 21+ years It depends on where you live. In most states, there's an essential property plan that will provide coverage for property, though they will also probably exclude liability (either entirely, or with a limitation regarding the animal.) In Virginia it's called the Virginia Property Insurance Association, in West Virginia is the WV FAIR Plan. As far as I know, all states have them. |
