My current apartment complex is requiring that all people who renew their lease get liability insurance of $50,000
They must have a recent incident where someone tried to sue them. Bottom line is that the landlord is only mandated to carry liability insurance for the structure..not the contents. A landlord can mandate any terms & conditions so long as they are legal and reasonable. This can incclude making renters carry renter's insurance esp. in florida where the hurrican season can cause severe damage to property. |
