Will Renter's Insurance cover personal items carried on your person?

A mugging occurred and a purse was snatched with personal belongings. Would renter's insurance cover the theft of one's purse while on the landlord's parking lot?

Policies can vary, so it depends on the specific language of your policy. But it is very likely that your renter's insurance would cover such a loss. You should contact your agent.

Renter's insurance typically would cover personal items on your person. It would most probably include losses in the parking lot on the premises. One question is whether there is a deductible, and whether you lost enough to exceed the deductible.
It can, but you always have to remember your deductible. Was the purse worth more than that? Also to consider, filing a claim. Do you want that to go on your record? Seems like your issue here is that it occured on rented property...
Why not read your policy?
