Can you work for a company like state farm insurance if you have a felony on your record. if so how? |
The felony is for manufacturing marijuana and it was only 8 plants 5 years ago. Thanks all!!!! Anyone who has been convicted of a felony who wants to work in any capacity for any insurance or fiduciary related business, must obtain approval from the state insurance commissioner of the state in which you want to work. As your crime is NOT money related, it shouldn't be a hard thing to get. Not likely. They have to do what is called bonding you. Felonies would usually disqualify you for bonding. BUT, maybe with supporting documents from family, or a judge, saying you are rehabilitated, or something to that affect, you could still try. You HAVE to be honest though and tell them, or you'll be looking at more trouble. GOOD LUCK! To be an insurance agent, probably not. In many states, having a felony conviction precludes you from getting an insurance license. To be a janitor, bookkeeper, receptionist, etc.maybe. You never know until you apply. I work in the medical billing field. You would probably have to take a drug test, if you pass they may or may not hire you. I think it's worth a shot! After all you really have nothing to loose if your try! Short answer is no. It is very difficult or even impossible in most states to obtain an insurance license with any felony, even bankruptcy and I have seen in some states departments turning down applicants for any such reason. Most states will not issue an insurance license to someone who has a felony conviction. The state I am in will revoke your license if they find out you had a DUI since it is a felony conviction. If you are able to get the state to issue you a license you will have trouble getting appointed by the companies. Every company asks if you have been convicted of a felony. If you do decide to do this, if is going to be difficult. I used to work for State Farm and I really doubt that they would hire someone with a felony conviction. |
