Car Insurance Under Different State? |
I'm just wondering how this works. I have a house in another state. Can I put my car under that other state's insurance? I want to do this because it is cheaper. Can the car stay with me at the state I'm currently living in? How do people do this? Register there car in one state while living and driving it in another? Thanks Where do you vote? Where is your health plan, where do you spend MOST of your time? It sounds like all you have in the cheaper state is a house that you aren't living in. You can't register and insure a car where you don't live. The vehicle should be insured in the state where it is licensed and registered. Your insurance is rated where the car is "garaged". If your driver's license is in a different state or your mailing address is different than the garage address, the insurance company will want to know why. Technically, the car is covered in any state you drive, but should the insurance company find out that you're living in a different area than being rated, it gives them an out to paying any claim you file. It's better to suck it up and pay the amount you should. Insurance Agent If you are in the military there are provisions that allow you to do this. I suggest you check with the department of motor vehicle in the state you working in. Personally, if you can get away with it, by all means go for it... ha.. Hope this helped. |
