If your insurance policy does not state if you are coverd to drive others cars, are you? |
If your insurance policy does not state if you are coverd to drive others cars, are you? UK? if you have fully comp. insurance you are usually covered to drive other cars with 'third party' cover only, and providing they are already insured by another driver. I.E, you could drive your mates car with third party cover. If you are already third party you will have to check the individual policy. Then your not covered. No. And if the policy says you do have third party cover on other cars beware. The small print explains this is only for emergencies. If you're using this on a regular basis the company will not pay out and you will be liable for all costs. Its always best to call the company as small print can be confusing and unclear - that way you would have a recorded call to go by and you will avoid fines etc if you drive a car your not insured to... If you want coverage to follow you to other cars, you can get insurance on your license. This will give you coverage on any vehicle you are in. in the uk you are only covered to drive another car that does not belong to you or is not regitered to you if your policy says so. it is normally a perk of fully comp insurance. check out the small print with care Insurance covers the car, not the driver. As long as you are driving a car that is insured with the owners permission, you have coverage. If you are driving a friends car and you crash it... your friends insurance will cover it, not yours |
