Insurance Why can I get insurance in my own state and they refuse me in another? |
Insurance Why can I get insurance in my own state and they refuse me in another? I can think of one other reason, if you went from a no fault state to a fault state. I used to live in PA, a no fault state. If someone hit you, while you were parked in a lawful place, with the car off, it was still charged against your insurance. If you moved across the line, to West Virginia, a fault state, they cannot see if you caused the accident or were a victim. Since it was charged against your insurance, it is a cost they may have to bear since they cannot distinguish who caused it. It limits litigation, but it also damages your record in fault states. couple of reasons. Some states have more accidents than others. Some companies check your credit, and credit scores that are acceptable in one state may not be in the next. Ask why they wouldn't accept you. Your old company may not have checked your Motor Vehicle Report since they wrote you a policy. Now that you are applying for a new policy there could be tickets on there..? unless youve been convicted of fraud progressive and geico should write you in their non standard company. |
