I am interested in becoming an insurance salesman in the state of North Carolina. Where do i start looking? |
Term life Insurance sales Why limit yourself to term? With a diverse world, you need to be able to offer insurance products to fit each family/busines' needs. This gives you an EDGE over your competitors. I also agree with gentleman above--term insurance does not pay high $$$. With so many little term companies popping up--here today, gone tomorrow, be careful and do your research. My #1 advice would be to go with a REPUTABLE company with strong financial strength, excellent claim history, and high ratings from independent agencies like Standard and Poor's, Moody's and Fitch. These companies will not only offer term as part of their product lines but much more. May I suggest New York Life, MetLife, Northwestern Mutual--to name a few. CONTACT MAJOR INSURANCE CMPANY FOR EMPLOYMENT Don't you need like a license for that?? I would look on Craigslist. They have so many answers. www.craigslist.com click on the word Craigslist in the left corner, find your region and search jobs. First you select the Insurance company for whom you like to work.Check with them if they are offering Term Life Insurance or no? Training, state license to act as an insurance agent The Insurance company like SB LI offering term life insurance through an arrangements with a banks. Some they offer directly to the public,Now you have one alternate Go to http://www.metlife.com and see the carrier opportunities if any exist in the state of North Carolina. I'd also suggest you consider the independent agency system, especially if you are looking to sell commercial lines, the Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina's website has a job/career listing, click on that link at: http://www.iianc.com/ What to expect: They will start you off with an interview and see if they like you and your attitude, most quality agencies will ask you to take a personality/sales test, they can usually get the results back within a couple days to a week. If you get hired a good agency will pay for your licensing education and fees and all of your continuing education credits you have to take to keep your license. A lot of agencies will train you directly (you go out on calls with the agents and work with them on how they get stuff done) and the companies they represent also have schools. Can't think of anything else, good luck in your search. Edit: Sorry, I missed that you wanted to do term life sales, there are independent agencies for that too. You will not make much money selling term life, even by the millions, no premium, no commission. Try Bankers Life & Casualty, Dwight Mejan 919 466 9706 XT 18, Cary, N. C. Mostly supplemental insurance I think, medicare, etc. Bankers reps do OK. He does the hiring last I heard, for RDU area. I can't speak for Bankers, but think you have to go to a school in Charlotte plus the N. C. State license required 40 hour school. |
