Typically you have 30 days to register your license in the new state. Auto insurance will be good until you register your car, pay taxes and switch tags. If you wait past 30 days then you get into being illegal and they could get out of coverage potentially. When you tell them they will adjust your rates accordingly, sometimes up, sometimes down, but shouldn't be a huge margin. Other factors bias the rate as well. ie. garage parking, town limits etc.
every state is different... anything from 14 days to 90 days.
Forever if you notify them of your new address, they have coverage where you have moved, and you pay the premium. Many of the large companies are nationwide.
i suggest to notify them straight away for they can usually roll insurance over from one comp. to another. when i worked in ins. i had to do it sometimes.
