Can I get a police ticket if I am driving my mom's truck and the insurance is under her name in the state TX? I work for a famous insurance company. Remember, the insurance follows the vehicle. But dont be suprised if the officer gives you a hard time. They want the driver to be listed on the actual vehicle insurance policy. Have your mom add you to the policy if you drive that truck over 1/2 the time. Tell the officer what your doing in it/ where your going/ your relationship to the insured and offer him, her phone number etc. He'll probably give you a warning. Unless he thinks that you stole it -catch my drift? Source(s): Insurance Yes In Texas if you get caught for anything, anything, you go straight to the electric chair. Friendly state Texas is, real friendly. Modified 1 year ago yes you can. Since your not on the policy you would be liable if you were to get in an accident. If she was with you then that's a different story but if your alone then yes you sure can. Take it from me, not worth your time and money! Of course you can get a ticket. The officer will ask you for your driver's license. So it will be your ticket, not your mom's. But if you are from out of state, it might not show up on your insurance record. I once got a ticket in Texas driving my grandmother's car, when I was a resident of another state and it never did show up on my insurance record. I still paid it, though. |
