Can i legally drive someone else's car in the state of California (we live here), without me having insurance? and i have a vaild driver licence, and the owner of the car is a minor. and he has insurance for himself, and under that insurance anybody of his family may drive the car, so does that bit of information matter? and i am NOT part of his family, just friends. Not if you get into a wreck... Yes you can,Often family can not drive because of "easy access"" a friend is different. Typical is when a friend borrows your pick up truck to move or pick up a sofa. Check the policy i dont know bout california, but from what i understand, if you dont have insurance, than its illegal. most policies make you list every driver of the car, and if you wreck it, and youre not on the policy, youre liable for damages. If his insurance does not cover people outside of his family driving his car, then NO you cannot legally drive his car. No, because if a cop stopped you, he'd ask you license registration and proof of insurance. Since you dont fall under his insurance policy that makes you and uninsured driver which is illegal in the state of california and usually mean really big tickets. You cannot drive that vehicle legally. You are not insured under his policy. Only himself and family are insured, its in black and white...which is also the same color of the car that could ruin your day if you were driving in that vehicle. You should have your own insurance, to be on the safe side. |
