Financed car is on X's name, loan and insurance on Y's. can Y re -register car on his name in another state?

ok, here is the story - I was buying car in one state,but unfortunately,state law requires you to have state licence,you can't finance car with out-of-state licence. i asked friend to help me - i bought car on his name, loan is on my credit, but he's also on application cause he's the owner. now i want to settle it - cause he's my friend and i don't want money stand between us. somebody told me that it's possible to re-register car on my name after some time. but i don't know proper way to do it. cause now i need to register this car in my state, refinance it the way my friend is not going to be on applicaion. what is the right way to do it? what must be done first? is it possible first place?

If I am understanding the question correctly, then you will need to refinance the car in just your name, then have the finance company send you the title so you can register it in just your name. Have your buddy fill out the appropriate paperwork at the DMV to have his name removed from the title. If both of your names are on the title then you will both have to be there. Wow, this is a mess and it is going to be a pain to get it untangled.

I am constantly amazed at just how dumb people are....how in the hell did you two get into such a cluster-**** of an agreement??
Wow what a tangled web we weave! Just pay X what you owe. Get a bill of sale for the car and re regrister the car pay taxes licence plates and get on with your life. Finance a new car soon get your own credit!
